Meet Dr. Robert Trujillo

“What I love most about what I do is helping people find confidence with a smile they love. Too often people feel insecure and self-conscious about their teeth. Whether you’re an adult or a teenager, no one should have to live this way. What we've see is that when people smile big, they live with greater confidence.” – Dr. Trujillo

Education and Experience

Dr. Trujillo’s formal education began by receiving the highest scholarly honor from Bill Gates: a full-ride scholarship to any US University of his choice. With a strong passion for art and science, Dr. Trujillo knew early on that he wanted to pursue a career in the medical profession. He graduated from the University of Portland where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. While there, he studied piano, was a nationally nominated academic All American swimmer, and swam for United States Swimming for Oregon and Hawaii Masters. His studies took him to Chaminade University of Honolulu as part of an exchange program, and to the University of Notre Dame-Australia, where he received a Certificate of International Studies.

Dr. Trujillo earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the Arizona School of Dentistry, graduating as Valedictorian, and subsequently completed a Graduate Certificate of Public Health at A.T. Still University. He then finished a two-and-a-half-year residency at the University of Oklahoma, receiving his Certificate of Specialty in Orthodontics and earning a Master of Science degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.

Dr. Trujillo has achieved board certification through the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO), the only orthodontic specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association and in affiliation with the American Association of Orthodontists.

Dr. Trujillo understands the importance of using the best treatments in order to create the best results for his patients. He stays current with the latest and greatest orthodontics has to offer relative to Invisalign®, TADs, and other contemporary techniques.

Family and Community

Dr. Trujillo was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, and after completing his residency, returned home to the Great Northwest. He and his beautiful wife, Angela, were married in 2007. Their first daughter, Mia, was born in 2013, and they’re also the proud parents of two miniature dachshunds, Cody and Lacey. In addition to Dr. Trujillo’s love of his family, he has a special interest in travel and culture. To say that he is an outdoor enthusiast would be an understatement! Much of his free time is spent hiking, biking, swimming, and camping.

The honor of being a Bill Gates Scholar introduced Dr. Trujillo to service and academic and professional leadership. It is an experience that he now passes on to other young people as a mentor, not only for the Bill Gates Millennium Scholars Foundation, but in his office for patients with college and scholarship applications as well.

Community involvement and service is one of Dr. Trujillo’s greatest passions. He loves the plateau neighborhood, the families who live here, and his involvement in the Sammamish area. He looks forward to growing with this amazing community for many years to come.
